#### **A Bill to Amend Article VI: Citizen Rights to Include the Right to Farm One's Own Homestead**
#### **Purpose:**
To affirm the right of all citizens of the Free Nation of New Athens to cultivate, harvest, and sustain themselves through non-commercial farming and homesteading activities on their own property, free from government restriction or interference.
#### **Section 1: Findings and Justification**
1.1 The right to self-sufficiency, including growing food for personal and family use, is essential to personal liberty, health, and sustainability.
1.2 Recognizing this right strengthens food security, environmental responsibility, and personal autonomy within the Free Nation of New Athens.
1.3 Many governments restrict the rights of citizens to cultivate crops, keep livestock, or produce food and beverage for personal consumption. This amendment ensures that such rights are permanently protected in New Athens.

#### **Section 2: Amendment to the Constitution**
**Article VI of the Constitution of the Free Nation of New Athens shall be amended to add the following provision:**

**The right to homestead farming:**
All citizens of the Free Nation of New Athens shall have the unalienable right to cultivate crops, raise animals, and produce food or beverage, including home-brewing, for personal use on property they own or lease, without interference or restriction by the government, provided these activities do not cause harm or significant nuisance to others. This right shall not be abridged by future legislation.
#### **Section 3: Limitations and Clarifications**
3.1 This amendment does not guarantee the right to sell agricultural or brewed products without appropriate commercial licensing, if required by law.
3.2 This amendment does not override other constitutionally protected rights or public health protections necessary to prevent harm.
