**The Parliamentary Crisis Has Ended**
On October 5<sup>th</sup>, 2020, the King declared a national emergency to address a critical issue before it befell our nation. The crisis in question being that the percentage of citizens that were physically and regularly able to attend in-person parliamentary meetings was, at best, sixty-five percent and at worst, well below quorum's requirement of a simple majority. This was the result of the increasing number of non-local citizens and the increasing complexity of the schedules of the local citizens. The result of this situation, if left alone, would have been the complete inability for any legislation to be passed in parliament.
To prevent this crisis, the King determined that Article XV of the Constitution of the Free Nation of New Athens must be amended. However, the King was not willing to alter the Constitution undemocratically. He spoke with the Chief Justice and came to an agreement that the best course of action would be to hold an unorthodox parliamentary session where, over an undetermined amount of time, but as quickly as possible, the King would meet with citizens individually so their votes could be counted and documented, until a simple majority vote was reached for each proposed amendment.
I am pleased to report that on this day, February 9, 2021, through the plan outlined above, the necessary amendments to Article XV have passed a simple majority vote within parliament. This crisis has ended, parliament's ability to pass legislation is ensured and this one hundred-and twenty-seven-day parliamentary session is officially adjourned.

In accordance with Article XV, I am exercising my right as the presiding Speaker of the People to decree that adhering to Roberts Rules of Order for the 2021 Speaker of the People election is not necessary, and therefore the election will conclude in 20 days, at 12:00am EST March 1, 2021. At that time, the candidate who has received the greatest number of votes will become the 2021 Speaker of the People. The vote is open at https://www.newathensgov.org/parliament in the Open Votes section.

In accordance with Article XV of the constitution of the Free Nation of New Athens, I am exercising my right as the presiding Speaker of the People to certify the results of our election for the 2021-2022 Speaker of the People of the Free Nation of New Athens. The terms declared within the Speaker of the People Parliament Business Decree released on February 9, 2021 have been met and therefore the election has concluded. Detailed ballot records have been kept and I have determined that the integrity of this election has been upheld.
With this, I am pleased to announce that Lord Tyler Wilson has been democratically elected the 2021-2022 Speaker of the People of the Free Nation of New Athens and will officially enter office immediately upon the release of this decree.
